List of New IITs: There are total eight (8) new IITs that have started functioning as per IIT JEE 2013 prospectus.

India already has seven functional IIMs in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode and Shillong. IIM Ranchi and Rohtak have also started taking admissions.

A total of  5 new IIMs are being set-up in India.
From 2012-13 :  IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Raipur, J&KK, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan (the locations are yet to be decided).

  • List of New AIIMS Hospital and Research Institute
A total of six new AIIMS hospital and research institutes would be set-up on the lines of All India
Institute of Medical Sciences-New Delhi per following:  AIIMS- Bihar(Patna), AIIMS- Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal), AIIMS- Orissa (Bhubaneshwar), AIIMS -Rajasthan (Jodhpur), AIIMS- Chhattisgarh (Raipur) and AIIMS -Uttaranchal (Rishikesh).
Each institute will intake 100 UG students. Once opened, this will significantly increase the intake of students from existing 50 seats (total-including all quota) in AIIMS.

AIIMS- Academic Programmes, Eligibility and Exam Schedule

  • New Central Universities (14) and Word Class Universities (16)
A total of 16 Central universities and a new category of 14 ‘world class universities’  shall come up in state capitals and major cities. .
The 16 Central universities would be set up in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa.
State-wise list of cities identified for locating 14 world class universities during the 11th Plan:

  • New IIITS
The Planning Commission has accorded “in principle” approval to establish 20 new Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) under the 11th Five Year Plan across various locations in India. The plan is, however, still awaiting the green signal from the finance committee of the Union government and the central cabinet.
Four centrally-funded IIITs already exist: IIIT- Allahabad, IIIT- Gwalior, IIIT- Jabalpur and IIIT- Kanchipuram. There are two other IIITs that have come up under PPP model: IIIT-Hyderabad & IIIT- Bangalore. It is worthwhile to note here that IIIT-Hyderabad has emerged as a unique brand similar to IITs.
